Music switches bluetooth modes when a call comes in on do not disturb.

I was playing music via Google Play on my Samsung Galaxy S10 to my Skullcandy Crusher bluetooth headphones. My phone was on do not disturb and I got a call. Even though my phone did not ring, and no notification appeared on screen, my music got all distorted and quiet. Based on my knowledge, I believe the bluetooth headphones switched from the primary stereo audio profile , to the mono-channel phone call profile. Usually devices stop the music, but my device did not. Any ideas?
