After making the festival rounds, Elwood Quincy Walker’s short film The Mortician’s Daughter is ready to make you squirm. We’ve embedded the full 20-minute short below, a stylish, chilling haunter set in a single location that mixes an emotional family story with some seriously cringe-inducing gags.

Hannah Barefoot (Creepshow, NCIS: Origins) stars as Violet, whose mother’s final wish puts her in an uncomfortable position: she wants her own daughter to embalm her. As Violet prepares the body in the funeral home where she grew up, buried memories begin to resurface, leading her toward a terrifying family secret.

Bonnie Aarons, best known as the Nun in The Conjuring universe, also stars.

There’s something inherently upsetting about having to perform this kind of work on someone you love, and Walker builds his scares around that intimacy. Give yourself 20 minutes and watch The Mortician’s Daughter below.
