Philips Evnia Unveils 36M4C5500P, The World’s First 36-Inch 260Hz Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

Ultrawide gaming monitors have been dominated by the standard 34-inch form factor for years, leaving gamers with very few options if they want a slightly larger screen without jumping straight up to a massive 40-inch or TV-sized panel. Philips Evnia is looking to bridge that gap with the announcement of the 36M4C5500P, which the company claims is the world’s first 36-inch gaming monitor to feature a 260Hz refresh rate. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 36″ model, so colour me interested in this larger model. The new display is part of the Evnia M4 series and pairs its 21:9 aspect ratio with a curved 1500R Fast VA panel. By adding two extra inches of diagonal screen space over traditional 34-inch models, Philips aims to offer greater immersion and desktop presence while still fitting comfortably on a standard gaming desk.

Under the hood, the Philips Evnia 36M4C5500P runs at an Ultra-Wide QHD (3440 x 1440) resolution and reaches an overclocked refresh rate of 260Hz alongside a 0.3ms MPRT response time. While VA panels are traditionally known for deep contrast levels, Philips has integrated its Smart MBR Sync technology to help keep motion blur and ghosting in check during fast-paced gameplay. For lighting and colour performance, the monitor carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and reaches a peak brightness of up to 500 nits in HDR content. Around the back, the chassis includes Evnia’s signature Iconglow feature, which illuminates the rear Evnia emblem with customisable RGB lighting effects so users can match the screen to their existing PC setup.

Gaming Features and Connectivity

Philips has packed the on-screen display with several AI-assisted gaming tools. Stark ShadowBoost brightens dark corners of a scene without blowing out bright highlights, making it easier to spot opponents hiding in the shadows. First-person shooter fans also get access to Smart Crosshair and Smart Sniper modes, as well as genre-specific presets that automatically tune visual settings to suit different games. While on the connectivity front, the monitor is well equipped for both PC and console setups. It includes two HDMI 2.1 ports alongside a DisplayPort 1.4 input, and supports MultiView functionality so users can connect and view two separate sources simultaneously. The included stand also offers full ergonomic support with height, tilt, and swivel adjustments.

Key Features
  • 36-inch Fast VA panel with a 1500R curvature
  • 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio with UWQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution
