The storm that has hit Xbox, with studio closures, layoffs, and major changes at game development studios, continues to cause more problems. Just three months after being promoted to Xbox‘s Chief Operating Officer, Helen Chiang has decided to leave Microsoft.

In a memo sent to all Microsoft Gaming employees and seen by The Verge, Xbox boss Asha Sharma reportedly explained that “Helen Chiang is leaving Microsoft today. I’m grateful for her years of service and wish her well.”

Before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Team Xbox in July this year, as part of the changes promised by Sharma for the future of Xbox, Chiang helped make Minecraft the best-selling video game of all time while serving as the head of Mojang Studios.

The now-former Xbox Chief Operating Officer has chosen not to publicly explain the reason for her departure from Microsoft after 21 years of successful work together. However, the Redmond-based technology giant told The Verge that “we don’t discuss individual personnel matters.”

We therefore do not know whether this decision was made for personal reasons or because of disagreements with the new Microsoft Gaming leadership led by Asha Sharma.

In other news, Microsoft may let Xbox Game Pass users build their own plan and pay only for what they want, from cloud gaming to online multiplayer.
