Samsung is expanding Quick Share's AirDrop compatibility to its mid-range Galaxy A lineup, and Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A57 owners can now exchange files with iPhones, iPads and Macs after installing the One UI 9 update.

The feature appears as a "Share with Apple devices" option in Quick Share settings, according to owners of both phones and posts on Samsung's community forum. Samsung first shipped the capability with the Galaxy S26 series in March and promised to bring it to more Android devices later.

Until now, AirDrop compatibility on Samsung hardware was mostly limited to Galaxy S flagships and foldables. Samsung initially listed the Galaxy S25 and S24 series along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy S25 FE received it more recently with One UI 9. Galaxy devices with the option now include:

• Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra
• Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and S25 FE
• Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra
• Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra
• Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7
• Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6
• Galaxy A56 and A57

One UI 9 reached the Galaxy A57 last week. Galaxy A56 owners had reported that the option was missing after installing One UI 8.5, and One UI 9 adds it. Availability can still depend on the software region, the Quick Share app version and the Google Play services version on the phone.

Google first made Quick Share compatible with AirDrop on Pixel 10 phones in late 2025, later extended it to more Pixel models, and announced plans to bring support to Samsung and other Android manufacturers.

The toggle is enabled by default on some Galaxy models, while others need it switched on manually. On a Galaxy A56 or A57:

1. Install the One UI 9 update.
2. Open Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share and turn on Share with Apple devices.
3. To send files to an Apple device, set AirDrop visibility on the iPhone, iPad or Mac to Everyone.
4. To receive files from an Apple device, open Quick Share on the Galaxy phone so it can be found.

Transfers start once both sides confirm the pairing and the transfer prompt. Depending on the setting, a device stays publicly discoverable only for a limited time window.

Samsung warns that the phone may temporarily disconnect from Wi-Fi while it searches for Apple devices or sends files to them, and that transfer speeds may be slower than regular Quick Share transfers. Samsung has not confirmed which other Galaxy A models or Galaxy tablets will receive the feature next.
