A Broadmeadows man will appear in court next month to contest charges that he failed to lodge residential bond money for two apartments he managed.

Paul Kent, 71, is alleged to have received $1760 as bond from renters of two Coburg North apartments between September 2023 and January 2024. Consumer Affairs Victoria alleges that Kent failed to lodge the bond money with the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA).

Under the Residential Tenancies Act, rental providers must lodge bond money with the RTBA within 10 days of receiving it.

The matter will be heard at a contest mention at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 4 November.
