India’s Namma Yatri Model Heads to Europe: MTI Brings Open Mobility to Global Cities

Дата публикации: 15-10-2026 11:12:02

MTI takes its India-built open mobility model to the World Economic Forum in Geneva.Moving Tech Innovations (MTI), the Bengaluru-based company behind Namma Yatri, whose platforms have facilitated close to 200 million trips in India with drivers paying zero commission, plans to help major European cities build open, sovereign mobility infrastructure.MTI was invited to the World Economic Forum’s Urban Transformation Summit 2026 in Geneva this week to share how cities can adapt technology for their local needs while still getting the benefits of scale, and why strong local partnerships are key to making it work.“For decades, many of the big ideas in urban mobility came to India from elsewhere. Now ideas built with Bengaluru’s auto drivers, Chennai’s commuters and Gujarat Driver Cooperatives are finding global relevance,” said Shan MS, Co-founder, MTI.“We are not importing an Indian app. We are bringing what MTI started in India - open infrastructure, community participation, and technology at population scale. We are building with cities and local ecosystems shaped by local needs and priorities.” added MTI Europe MD, Mohit Mishra.MTI has carried out significant steps in its Europe journey so far, highlighted by:Acquisition of Netherlands-based Automicle established its European base.Partnership with Dutch foundation Stichting FINOMAD to advance Open Public Mobility in Europe.Global audiences at the WEF were briefed on MTI’s future approach, including plans to collaborate with major European cities to build open, sovereign public mobility infrastructure. This will let cities retain control over policy and data, while operators retain their independence.MTI’s presence at WEF illustrates its experience in redefining mobility in India through its principle of bringing together Samaaj, Sarkaar, Bazaar (Community, Government and Business – the three pillars of socio-economic growth) to achieve integrated, affordable and sustainable mobility for all. MTI has worked with cities, drivers, and communities to build a Public Mobility Infrastructure that is open, locally governed, and adapted to each city.UPI, a core component of the ‘India Stack’, is a prime example of Digital Public Infrastructure in India. The technology showed the world that open, shared digital rails can propel an entire economy, the size of India. Built as part of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, it became a global reference point for how technology can work at population scale.MTI believes mobility can follow the same path: common infrastructure that many players can build on, with cities, operators, drivers and communities holding the controls. Built and proven in India, that model is now travelling to Europe.MTI’s technology powers Namma Yatri, Chennai One, Yatri Sathi, Kerala Savaari, Odisha Yatri and Bharat Taxi, which together have facilitated close to 200 million trips to date. The platforms are built on the Beckn Protocol, an open-source, decentralized technical standard that enables peer-to-peer digital commerce and service transactions across different platforms. The platforms are also connected to India’s ONDC network, enabling drivers to retain 100% of fares through a subscription-led model. MTI is now taking this model to Europe.About Moving Tech Innovations (MTI)Moving Tech Innovations (MTI) builds public mobility infrastructure for cities and communities, guided by the Samaaj, Sarkaar, Bazaar principle of community, government, and business building together.
