A luxury Tuscan estate with a cinematic driveway, 11 bedrooms and a panoramic swimming pool has gone on sale.

Poggio Covili overlooks one of Italy’s most distinctive avenues: a perfectly straight, tree-lined drive flanked by towering cypress trees.

The estate is also close to the farmhouse that featured in the 2000 film Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe, adding a touch of Hollywood glamour to its already impressive credentials.

Set in the province of Siena, near the medieval towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino, the estate spans approximately 40 hectares in the Unesco-listed Val d’Orcia.

According to local tradition, the name Poggio Covili preserves the memory of an old inn once frequented by travellers along the Via Francigena.
