Craig Gillespie on Making a ‘Supergirl’ That’s Much More ‘Mad Max’ Than You’re Probably Expecting

Gillespie tells IndieWire that, when he took the job directing the superhero spinoff, he asked James Gunn how much the tone of “Supergirl” needed to match the tone of Gunn’s “Superman.” Gunn answered, “Not at all.” Gillespie took that note and ran with it.
