The Hawaii Concert Society’s 2026-2027 season will offer seven public concerts between mid-September and mid-March.

In addition to standard chamber music ensembles and soloists, the season includes several instruments and instrument combinations not presented in previous seasons.

Because the usual concert venue, the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center, will be closed for a lengthy renovation starting in January, this season’s concerts will take place at three Hilo venues: UH Hilo Performing Arts Center (Sept.-Oct. 2026), Church of the Holy Cross (Dec. 2026), and the Crown Room of the Naniloa Hotel (Jan.-Mar. 2027). The latter two venues have ample parking and easy access to the concert venue.

For the Crown Room, free parking is available on the opposite (mauka) side of Banyan Drive.

The 65th season opens in late September with two concerts. The first, on Sept. 23, is by the two-time Grammy Award-nominated Neave Trio. The second, on Sept. 30, is by the recent Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, pianist Mackenzie Melemed, whose concert will explore nearly two centuries of American piano music by our nation’s most influential composers.

On Oct. 13, a concert of early music will be performed by English countertenor Iestyn Davies, recognized as one of the world’s finest singers, accompanied by harpist Oliver Wass. To conclude 2026, Chamber Music Hawaii’s Honolulu Brass Quintet will present a holiday concert on Dec. 7.

Concerts in the new year begin on Jan. 21, 2027, with the violin and guitar duo, Yu & I, who have captivated audiences across the USA with their magnetic stage presence and electric musicality.

They will be followed on Feb. 3 by the American String Quartet, in existence for over half a century and internationally recognized as one of the world’s finest quartets. The quartet will be joined by clarinetist Stephen Schilling.

Finally, on March 18, in tribute to Beethoven, who died in 1827, 200 years ago, Daniel Maltz will perform on the keyboard instrument for which Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn composed and intended their music, the fortepiano.

Full season tickets may be ordered using the form in the brochure, or by using the either a printable order form or the online form, both available at hawaiiconcertsociety.org.

Full season tickets are $168 for general admission, $140 for seniors (60-plus), and $55 for students; each is a 20% savings over box-office prices.

Ticket orders for any custom-designed miniseries of at least four concerts also may be specified in the brochure and on the printable form, and also are available at reduced prices. One may also order tickets for three or fewer concerts at box office prices.

The brochure, which has been mailed to past and present Society members, previous season ticket holders, and a large number of Hilo residents and businesses, is available by request by phoning 959-4064. To obtain tickets by return mail before the first concert, orders should be received on or before Sept. 13. Otherwise, they may be picked up at the box office on the evening of the first concert on Sept. 23.
