KRASNOYARSK, October 23. /TASS/. The death toll from bear attacks in Russia has risen to 28, according to TASS calculations based on regional reports and public data.

Siberia and the Far East face a difficult situation as bears increasingly enter populated areas. Forest populations have grown significantly, while this year's poor taiga food harvest has left the animals hungry, driving them toward settlements.

On October 23, a watchman was killed by a bear at an industrial facility near the village of Boguchany in the Krasnoyarsk Region, bringing the national toll to 28, including eight in that region.
