Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Stellantis will collaborate to develop vehicles aimed at global markets. The partnership builds on their existing relationship, which includes manufacturing through Fiat India Automobiles. Stellantis will use Tata's vehicle architecture and technologies for its international development efforts. This collaboration demonstrates India's increasing importance in the global automotive industry. The expected outcomes highlight the potential for growth in vehicle deployment and production efficiency.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Stellantis will be developing vehicles for over 50 global markets in India, the companies said on Monday.
The deal widens an over two year long relationship that has so far been about manufacturing cars through Fiat India Automobiles, and comes after an agreement in February that talks about exploring cooperation in manufacturing, engineering and supply chains.
The move also marks an elevation in Tata's partnership with Stellantis, taking it past manufacturing into vehicle deployment and shows India's growing role. India is the world's third-largest car market.
Under the agreement, Stellantis will gain access to the Indian carmaker's vehicle architecture and technologies, which it will use alongside its own engineering and product-development capabilities to develop vehicles for international markets, the companies said.
