After being alerted to a tire dump on TVA property adjacent to Watts Bar Lake of the Tennessee River, KTnRB began working on a cleanup effort to fit into the docket of the ninth annual Keep the Tennessee River Watershed Beautiful Month presented by TVA, celebrated in October.

This cleanup is a major operation with an estimated 500 tires, abandoned boat, tube TV, litter, and several pieces of furniture. TVA and TDOT employees will be on site helping to remove the dumped items. TDOT is providing a dump truck to haul away the trash and bulk items collected while Liberty Tire Recycling is providing a cargo carrying unit from a semi-trailer for the tires to be easily hauled away.

Volunteers are still needed for this cleanup, which KTnRB is describing as a chance to show off some power tire lifting or to simply roll a bunch of tires from the river into a container for mass recycling.

The cleanup will be on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. for volunteers. Roadside access is from Dogwood Valley Road in Lenoir City, Tn. (GPS: 35°46'56.4"N 84°24'37.2"W).
