In a major success, Jammu Police recovered narcotics suspected to have been dropped by Pakistani drones near the international border in the Arnia sector of Jammu's R.S. Pura subdivision.

This is the second incident this month in which Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered drugs suspected to have been dropped by drones from across the border in the Arnia area.

According to a police spokesperson, Jammu Police, under Operation Sanjeevani, recovered a commercial quantity of narcotics comprising 804 grams of heroin and 1.114 kilograms of opium from the Talhar village area of the Arnia sector near the international border.

The case originated on October 20, 2026, when Police Station R.S. Pura received information that a 26-year-old man, Sunny Kumar, son of Tarsem Lal and a resident of Kotli Mirdian in Suchetgarh tehsil of Jammu district, was consuming narcotics near a ditch in his village. Accordingly, FIR No. 186/2026 was registered under Sections 8, 18, 21, 22 and 27 of the NDPS Act, and an investigation was initiated.

During the investigation and subsequent questioning, Sunny Kumar's alleged involvement in a narcotics smuggling module linked to a drone-dropping incident came to light. Acting on the leads developed during the investigation, a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of R.S. Pura pursued the case, leading to the recovery of 804 grams of heroin and 1.114 kilograms of opium from the Talhar area of the Arnia sector.

The preliminary investigation indicated a possible cross-border nexus involving the use of drones to smuggle narcotics into Indian territory.

Police are investigating the backward and forward linkages of the module to identify the source of the consignment, its intended recipients and other persons involved in the network.

Further investigation is underway to establish the complete chain of the narcotics trafficking network and identify everyone involved. Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and combating the narco-terror threat through sustained and decisive action.

During a search, police recovered heroin, a silver-coloured pistol reportedly of the Beretta type, two magazines and four live rounds from Rahul Kumar, son of Rishipal Chand and a resident of Trewa, Arnia.

Another alleged drug peddler, Ajay Kumar, son of Mangal Dass and a resident of Talhar village in Arnia, Jammu district, was also arrested, and heroin was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 64/2026 was registered at Police Station Arnia under Sections 8, 21, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act and Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. An investigation was initiated.
