MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will receive US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff later on Wednesday, Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov said.

The upcoming meeting is a scheduled event that was agreed upon in advance, Ushakov noted. According to him, today’s talks will focus on resolving the Ukraine conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will receive the US leader’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in the first half of the day on Wednesday, Ushakov announced: "Yes, Putin will receive Witkoff in the Constantine Palace. The event has been scheduled for the first half of the day today."

The meeting is a scheduled event that was agreed upon in advance, he explained: "I would say, it is a scheduled one. It was agreed upon a few days ago. For us - for those of us who prepared this event - it was no secret at all."

Today’s meeting between Putin and Witkoff will focus on the Ukraine conflict, Ushakov told reporters: "Today’s event will naturally center around negotiations on the Ukraine conflict."

Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), will join Putin’s meeting in St. Petersburg with Witkoff, the Kremlin aide revealed: "Yes, and interpreters too will be present."

US special envoy Jared Kushner will not attend the St. Petersburg meeting with Putin and Witkoff due to an illness, according to Ushakov: "We were told that Kushner fell ill and chose to refrain from the trip. As far as I know, he was not in Norway with Witkoff, who met with several European representatives and [Vladimir] Zelensky."

The recent talks on settling the Ukrainian conflict did not involve Zelensky; Moscow did not have any contact with him, Ushakov said: "We had no contact with Zelensky. The things we discussed a while ago, we did so without him."
