The owners of Veranda Thai and Vietnamese restaurants and markets in Greater Portland have leased space on Fore Street with plans to launch a new Veranda Kitchen & Bar.

Owners Hai Pham and Sonka Nguyen have filed an application with the City Council, which is scheduled to be reviewed at their Oct. 5 meeting. The owners could not be reached immediately for comment.

The application notes that the owners have operated Veranda Kitchen & Bar in Westbrook for more than 10 years. They expect the venue at 425 Fore St., in the same building as Barkada and Gelato Fiasco, will offer similar Thai and Vietnamese specialties as their Westbrook location.

The Veranda Group includes Veranda Thai and Veranda Noodle Bar, both on Veranda St.; Veranda Asian Market on Forest Avenue; and Veranda Kitchen & Bar in Westbrook.

Pham and Nguyen have applied for a full liquor license. Their proposed hours of operation are Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The layout included in their application shows 24 table seats and an additional 14 counter seats. Pham and Nguyen aim to open this fall.
