QR Ph and InstaPay payments grew 198% on Xendit’s platform in the 15 months to April 2026, but missing payment options still cost Philippine online sellers sales. Among Filipino shoppers who abandoned a purchase, 41% said their preferred payment method was unavailable.

The findings come from the Xendit Ecommerce Payments Momentum Report 2026, released by Xendit, the payments infrastructure company, with ecommerce data firm Cube. It combines Xendit’s transaction data with a survey of 6,000 online shoppers across six Southeast Asian markets, including 1,000 respondents in the Philippines.

“Filipino consumers have always been receptive to new technology and we see the same in digital payment, but they don’t all pay the same way. One wants an e-wallet, another scans a QR Ph code, another uses a card,” said Nazim Ali, president of Xendit. “So for a business, going digital isn’t about choosing one main payment method and steering everyone onto it. It’s knowing which methods your digitally savvy customers actually use, offering those, and making sure each one is secure. If people can’t find the option they use, or don’t trust the checkout, they leave.”

QR Ph and InstaPay, which support real-time QR payments and bank transfers, now account for about 13% of Philippine e-commerce value in Xendit’s data. Their growth came from a smaller starting base, while e-wallet payments grew just 3% over the same period. GCash remains the leading e-wallet in the country.

Cash-on-delivery (COD), however, still accounts for about 23% of Philippine e-commerce value in the company’s data. That is the highest share among the six markets covered, ahead of Vietnam at around 16%.

A third of Filipino respondents said they use COD much less than a year ago. Still, 12% said nothing would persuade them to switch, about twice the level in most other markets. Discounts or cashback were the most common reasons to try digital payments among those willing to change.

The report expects the Philippines to remain the only market covered where COD exceeds a fifth of e-commerce value in 2027.

Security concerns could also become more pressing. In a separate survey of 25 business leaders across Southeast Asia, only 8% placed fraud among their top two payment concerns today, but 48% expect it to rank there within five years.

Online sellers need to offer the digital payment options their customers use while keeping cash-on-delivery available for those who prefer it.
