Trump reposted a video of William Chapman during his final moments before he was fatally attacked by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

President Donald Trump shared multiple videos on social media Tuesday depicting animals mauling people. The bizarre posts appeared as the nation is beset by sky-high gas prices, a war against Iran, and a cost-of-living crisis that has shaken the country’s economy as midterm elections loom.

The president amplified the violent footage on his Truth Social account, which is usually reserved for boasting about his perceived accomplishments and reposting praise from the people who work for him.

Alongside a video of a man being attacked by a tiger, Trump wrote, “Don’t ever mess with nature! President DJT.” The clip was from a fatal attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Saturday. The Guardian reported that a man named William Chapman, who is believed to have been in his twenties, climbed into the enclosure of Altai, a more-than-400-pound Siberian tiger, who attacked him.

Trump reposted the silent, 41-second clip that depicts the tiger appearing to bite the back of Chapman’s neck, pulling him to the ground, and pawing at his legs. The clip doesn’t appear to show the man’s death. The incident reportedly lasted a couple of minutes, and Chapman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. An official White House account reposted Trump’s video to X.

After Trump posted the video of Chapman, the president posted a 24-second video compilation of lions attacking people that was soundtracked to upbeat music. It is unclear if the depicted attacks are authentic or generated by AI.

Later on Tuesday, Trump posted an AI video of himself chasing a tiger, tackling it, and then playing with it and smiling, set to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

Trump isn’t known to shy away from gruesome displays of violence.

Earlier this month, Pete Hegseth revealed that the Pentagon will livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, a former U.S. Army major convicted in court-martial proceedings of murdering 13 individuals, and attempting to murder 32 others in the 2009 mass shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Killeen, Texas.

Hasan is, by order of the Trump administration, set to be executed by firing squad on Dec. 3. It will be the first time the military has executed someone since 1961, and the first public American execution in nearly a century.

Lawmakers in Congress — of both parties — rejected the plan as a potentially illegal abandonment of the laws and principles of impartial, humane justice that are the foundation of the U.S. criminal justice system. “Hasan should face the death penalty, but making his execution public and streaming it? Beyond disgusting,” wrote Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). “Public executions are what oppressive dictatorships like Iran and Afghanistan do. It should not be happening in America.”

While Trump’s reposting of a man’s final moments before he is killed by a tiger and other instances of exotic cats mauling people may be a temporary distraction from the upcoming midterms, all signs point to a successful showing from Democrats. Republican candidates have suffered as a result of Trump’s war against Iran, which has driven up costs and caused his popularity to crater. The GOP is suddenly in danger of losing Senate seats in red states they’ve held safely for years, and Democrats are expected to take back control of the House of Representatives.
