Bengaluru’s Majestic Metro Wall turned into an immersive cultural experience by Signpost India
Signpost India Ltd has unveiled Majestic Canvas, a 16,000 sq. ft. immersive visual experience at Bengaluru’s Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic Metro), using advanced projection mapping technology to showcase Karnataka’s mythical forms and temple heritage.
The experience was launched on October 17, 2026, with a midnight art soirée titled ‘Stone to Life’. It uses Epson’s EB-L20000U Japanese projector, which delivers 20,000 lumens of brightness and WUXGA resolution, to transform the existing metro wall across the third and fourth platforms into a canvas for cultural storytelling.
Curated by Team Gen O, Mumbai, Majestic Canvas showcases five mythical forms rooted in Karnataka’s architectural heritage: Yali, Vrishabha-Kunjara, Gandabherunda, Makara and Kirtimukha.
The installation uses contemporary digital techniques to bring these forms, their symbolism and associated traditional narratives to life, offering a new perspective on Karnataka’s cultural legacy.
The launch event was attended by Maheshwar Rao M, Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bangalore Authority, representatives of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), and members of the cultural, creative and business communities.
Historian Srinivas Sistla, associate professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, introduced the experience and led a walkthrough explaining the origins, symbolism and cultural significance of the mythical forms.
Technology and artShripad Ashtekar, Managing Director of Signpost India, said the initiative demonstrates how existing urban infrastructure can be reimagined through technology and cultural storytelling without physically altering the space.
He said the project explores a new dimension of technology-enabled out-of-home media networks, moving beyond conventional billboards to create public installations that encourage people to engage with and remember the experience.
An interactive discussion featuring Maheshwar Rao and Ashtekar highlighted the potential of public spaces to become platforms for cultural expression and creative engagement through the integration of art and technology.
The event concluded with live musical performances, food and community interaction, bringing together public officials, historians, creative professionals and industry representatives.
