The Apple HomeView apps lineup is finally official. The smart home hub comes with 15 built-in apps, but there’s no App Store.

That means the $299 device leans on your iPhone for anything beyond the basics. Supported third-party audio and video apps come from your phone, too.

Apple HomeView apps include Safari and FaceTime

Apple envisions the HomeView, which it unveiled on Tuesday, as a central hub for the household. With a 7-inch screen perched atop a metal base filled with speakers, the small device is built to sit on a kitchen counter or coffee table for communal use.

Special software allows up to six people to set up their own home screens. The HomeView uses facial and voice recognition to distinguish household members from one another.

But what apps can the users choose from when setting up their custom splash screens? Apple’s tech specs page for HomeView lists 15 built-in apps for HomeView. Communication apps include FaceTime, Messages and Intercom. Calendar, Reminders, Find My and Home are onboard as well.

Apple Music and Podcasts handle audio, while Safari covers the web. The rest of the list is filled out by Alarms, Timers, Weather, World Clock and Settings.

Other apps come from your iPhone

Apple’s list doesn’t include an App Store. Instead, HomeView draws other apps from a compatible iPhone. Apple names four of them: Audiobooks, Classical Music, News and TV.

The page also mentions “supported third-party audio and video apps,” but doesn’t list any. And while it doesn’t name any, Spotify could be among them.

“A handful of third-party media apps like Spotify are available, and developers can bring over existing CarPlay apps,” Wired wrote. “If your iPhone already has one of these CarPlay apps installed, it can automatically appear on the HomeView after setup.”

For now, Safari is the only way to watch videos on the new device.

“There are no video streaming apps like YouTube, Netflix, or Disney+, but if those companies choose to make their apps available on the CarPlay framework, they will show up on the HomeView,” according to Wired.

Apple’s developer license agreement contains a section called “CarPlay and Apple HomeView.” It confirms that select CarPlay apps and widgets will work on the smart display. The company says up to six recognized HomeView users get a personalized home screen, all with apps and widgets.

System requirements call for an iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later, or an iPad with iPadOS 27.2 or later.

HomeView launches November 13 for $299

Apple announced HomeView on October 13. Preorders are live, but the hub doesn’t ship until November 13.

Both the tabletop and wall-mounted models cost $299. If you want wall mounts from Schneider Home, they cost extra, starting at $59.95. Apple isn’t selling the HomeView in the European Union, as Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.
