‘Russia had the perception that the US was very powerful militarily. And then just like in the Wizard of Oz at the end, the curtain gets pulled back and the great and powerful Oz turns out to be this little guy with a drinking problem’ – Larry Johnson.

Today’s guest on RT’s Sanchez Effect is former CIA analyst and BERG associates CEO, Larry Johnson. Rick and his guest waste no time breaking down the Middle East and Ukraine conflicts, with Rick saying he believes the Russians want to finish off Ukraine, but Kiev won’t back away from its escalation against civilian targets. Larry calls Kiev’s weekend drone barrage a “pyrrhic victory” as Moscow’s retaliation will certainly make Vladimir Zelensky regret his decision. On Iran, Rick poses the question of whether an uprising in the Islamic Republic is possible amid such instability there. Larry says – no chance. Iranian society has become united, with 98% of them now supporting their government – and despite all Washington’s efforts to divide them. Rick and Larry also discussed the recent Ansar Allah advances against the Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia. The former CIA analyst reminds Rick that the US and other Saudi friends are not there to help the kingdom, so perhaps the Houthis might make a move on Riyadh quite soon.
