Latest round of cuts proposes the loss of 52 roles in Finland and 70 in Singapore

Ubisoft has proposed the closure of Finnish studio RedLynx, creator of the Trial franchise, and major job losses at Ubisoft Singapore, lead developer of the ill-fated Skull and Bones. The cuts are the latest in the firm's ongoing restructuring, as it seeks to dramatically reduce costs and reform into a new Creative Houses structure. Both studios had been placed into the Creative Network in that organization, providing central support to other teams.

"Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions," the firm said in a statement.

"At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs. The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization. We deeply value the contributions of both teams and recognize the impact this may have on our colleagues. We are committed to supporting our teams throughout this process and conducting it with care and respect."

RedLynx was acquired by the firm in 2011, following the huge success of Trials 2 and Trials HD. It shipped a series of subsequent games in the Trials franchise, culminating in Trials Fusion in 2019, before becoming a support studio within Ubisoft's development organisation. It previously underwent staff cuts in 2025, at which point the studio said it would change from being a multiplatform studio to one "specialised in small screens," with two unannounced mobile titles in development. GamesIndustry.biz understands the firm is not currently assigned to a project and has no sustainable standalone titles.

Ubisoft Singapore was created as a support studio in 2008 and took on a series of larger projects for the company including the development of the naval combat sections of the Assassin's Creed franchise. This lead to it creating pirate title Skull and Bones, which suffered a notoriously bruising development process that experienced multiple delays prior to finally shipping in 2024. 70 jobs represents roughly a fifth of its total headcount.

Redlynx is the latest studio to be shuttered as part of Ubisoft's long-running cost reduction program, which entered its "final" stage this year. This year the firm has closed studios in Stockholm, Halifax, Winnipeg and Belgrade, cancelled six games, and laid off staff worldwide as it reorganises into six "Creative Houses", each housing a series of brands and studios.

In September, it announced that Creative House 2 would henceforth be known as Massive Entertainment, adopting the name of the Swedish studio that lead development of the Tom Clancy's The Division.franchise.
