Witney Carson’s latest journey on “Dancing with the Stars” may have ended, but the pro dancer says she’s at peace with the outcome.
After her and Guillermo Rodriguez’s elimination during Tuesday’s episode of the competition series, Carson reflected on their journey and why the result felt right for both of them.
Speaking to E! News at Selena Gomez’s Rare Impact Fund Benefit on Wednesday, Carson said she and Rodriguez were both ready for a breather after weeks of rehearsals and live performances.
“Both Guillermo and I were very content with the results,” Carson, 32, said. “We were both really tired and we were like, ‘Maybe this is the God and the universe telling us you need to take a break now.'” She added, “So, we were okay with it.”
The comments came days after Carson pushed back on online speculation that she wanted her partnership with Rodriguez to end. Earlier this month, the dancer said she felt compelled to address what she described as false narratives surrounding their time on the show.
“Because it’s not true,” Carson told E! News when asked why she responded to the rumors. “I just don’t like narratives that aren’t true online without me speaking my truth.”
“I felt like there was enough of it that I did need to clarify, and I needed to get my narrative out,” she added. “Social media has created such an amazing platform where we can actually do that and we can set the record straight.”
At the time, Carson said she felt she and Rodriguez were beginning to find their rhythm in the competition and building momentum despite landing near the bottom of the leaderboard.
Their elimination marked the end of a memorable run that saw Carson compete while pregnant with her third child. The pro dancer said the experience challenged her both physically and emotionally as her body changed throughout the season.
“I’m so proud of myself,” Carson said. “It was scary every single week to have your body change and get bigger. Even though it is a blessing, I don’t think we talk about what’s happening with our bodies and it was happening on live television.”

Carson said she felt that support from viewers who followed her journey encouraged her.
“I felt so supported by all the women out there,” she said. “It’s just a testament to women and what we can do. It’s incredible.”
While she is looking forward to focusing on her growing family, Carson admitted it was difficult saying goodbye to Rodriguez.
“It was very bittersweet,” she said. “This man brought so much joy to so many people every week. So, he will be very missed. I will miss him a lot, for sure.”
