Global pop sensation Taylor Swift married her longtime boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce, at Madison Square Garden over Fourth of July weekend in the celebrity event of the summer. Unfortunately, reports emerged shortly after that the pop star was “frustrated” with how little she’s been able to spend time with her husband, who was in the middle of Kansas City’s preseason camp following his decision to forgo retirement and compete for another Super Bowl.
“She is frustrated because football is taking up so much of his time – he works overtime – causing them to not see each other a ton, and she would like more,” an insider told the Daily Mail.
“Travis being in training camp has meant she has had to go out alone. They do not see each other every single day, but they see each other every single week – they are very dedicated to that.”
Still, Swift hasn’t let those frustrations stop her from watching Kelce compete this season, which is widely expected to be his last in the NFL before retiring. In an interview with Variety, Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith was asked how he felt about Swift attending Chiefs’ games and the coverage it gets.
Surprisingly, he was nothing but supportive.
“She’s there to support her husband and she doesn’t care about all this other stuff, but the networks do. The networks are exposing everything because of who she is. She’s not looking for the damn camera!” Smith said.
“She’s trying to be Taylor Swift, wife to Travis Kelce, and is trying to enjoy life. She’s not going, ‘Put me on the camera! I’m here!’ Most stars aren’t even like that. The media needs something to talk about, this is fresh and new, and she’s a big star. Do I like it? No. Can I do anything about it? No. Can she do anything about it? No. The only thing she can do is not show up at the games, and who wants to do that? She’s just trying to be herself. That’s what losing your anonymity truly means — people follow you.”
It’s great to know that people in and around the NFL don’t feel nearly as storngly about Swift attending Chiefs games as some of the toxic friends online, but Swift wasn’t likley to let anything get in the way of supporting her husband anyway.
“She refuses to complain to him about his absence, because she knew what she signed up for, she knew he would be at practice after they got married. She knew the honeymoon would be short so she can’t complain at all, and she doesn’t want to guilt Travis. That is not her deal, she never shames or complains,” a source told the Daily Mail.
“She wants to support him so he can do his best this season.”
