A mobile speed camera operator working for the state’s Road Safety Commission has been charged with reckless driving and the commission’s vehicle has been impounded after he allegedly forced another car to swerve off the road to avoid a collision.
The 67-year-old man was working in the Wheatbelt on Tuesday, September 29, and driving an Isuzu D-Max on Great Eastern Highway between Tammin and Cunderdin when he allegedly overtook a road train in a “reckless manner”, a police spokesperson said.
An oncoming vehicle was forced to slow down and move onto the shoulder of the road to avoid a collision, which led to WA Police’s road policing investigation team to launch a probe.
The man, from Toodyay, was subsequently summonsed to appear in Northam Magistrates Court on December 14.

It detailed a “weak” start to spring that research director Tim Lawless said reflected more than the usual seasonal interruptions.
Houses in Perth are taking longer to sell. Adobe Stock“School holidays and football finals can disrupt the market during September, but they don’t explain the extent of the slowdown we’re seeing in sales activity or why homes are taking so much longer to sell,” Lawless said.
