President Donald Trump served up a Texas-sized roast of Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico Wednesday night, mocking the Democrat’s meat-eating habits and joking that a mouthful of barbecue sends him running for the nearest trash can.

Trump unloaded on “Tofu Talarico” during a San Antonio rally for Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton, whose Democratic opponent has been missing from the campaign trail since late September.

“You haven’t seen him in a couple of weeks,” Trump told the crowd, suggesting Talarico’s sudden disappearance had less to do with illness and more to do with his stomach.

“He’d go to the back of the tent and he’d throw up all over the place, because he doesn’t want meat,” Trump joked.

Trump has repeatedly skewered Talarico’s past push to reduce meat consumption, dubbing him “Talafreako” and painting him as a lettuce-loving liberal choking down Texas brisket for political points.

Trump on the mysterious disappearance of James Talarico: "You haven't seen him in a couple weeks. I hear the guy has disappeared. You know where he is? He's SICK, because he's been forced to eat meat for political reasons and he's throwing up all over the place." pic.twitter.com/iPhZ9vxdQz

Talarico’s campaign insists the Democrat has the flu, not a barbecue allergy. His team says he canceled several appearances after getting sick and plans to return to the trail soon.
