MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. Russia reduced its crude oil production by 38,000 barrels per day (bpd) month-on-month in September to 8.643 million bpd, according to the latest report by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

In September, Russia's production quota under the OPEC+ agreement stood at 9.949 million bpd, factoring in voluntary output caps. Consequently, Russia's oil production for the month was 1.306 million bpd below its targeted allocation, excluding the compensation schedule.

Currently, oil production in Russia is capped under the OPEC+ agreement. From early 2024 through March 2025, Russia's baseline production quota - including voluntary restrictions -stood at 8.978 million bpd. This figure did not account for obligations to compensate for past overproduction during the voluntary restriction window.

In April 2025, Russia began gradually scaling up its output month-on-month in accordance with the OPEC+ roadmap. In September 2025--a year ahead of schedule--OPEC+ nations completed the phase-out of voluntary cuts totaling 2.2 million bpd and began unwinding another 1.65 million bpd in supply curbs to return the curtailed volumes to the market. By September 2026, these countries had completed the restoration of this volume to the market. For the remainder of the year, previously approved baseline quotas will apply to all OPEC+ countries without additional restrictions, fixing Russia's quota at 9.949 million bpd.
