Dillian Whyte has been accused of demanding more money to take part in promoting his fight with Tyson Fury.

The bout has been agreed, although Whyte is still arguing with the purse split, which is currently 80-20 in the 'Gypsy King's' favour since his promoter Frank Warren won the bid for the heavyweight world title clash with an offer of £31million.

Whyte wants that to be altered to 70-30, as is custom for a mandatory WBC challenger.

There is a deadline of February 21 for the contracts to be sent off so the clock is ticking.

Fury's co-promoter Bob Arum has claimed the delay is due to Whyte demanding payment for taking part in the build-up.

'He's saying, 'I want extra money to promote' [but] our position is, 'We're not gonna give it to you,'' Arum told Queensberry Promotions.

'Now, if the fight does enormously well, we'll give you a taste at the back end where everybody has made money.

'But we're not going to be put in a position where you're threatening us that you're not going to participate in the promotion.

'If he doesn't, he's a damn fool because there's always tomorrow.

'Even if he loses the fight, by participating the promotion he builds his own image and his own career.

'And even more important is that he really needs the exposure from this big fight and his threat is that he's not gonna avail himself of that exposure.'

Each of the Gypsy King's last five contests have been in the United States since comeback victories in Manchester and Belfast in 2018.

It now looks as though Wembley Stadium is the favourite venue for his fight with Whyte on April, 23 - as long as the contracts are signed in the next week.
