A financier and his senior mother are among six people presumed dead after a privately owned medical jet traveling from Bermuda to Boston seemingly crashed off the coast of Nantucket.

The Bermuda Police Service said Sergio Wayne Lottimore, 41, and his 66-year-old mom Marilyn Lavonne Bean, both from Bermuda, were aboard the Gulfstream G100 that went missing on Saturday around 2am.

Lottimore was a vice president of credit, bond and political risk reinsurance at Bermuda insurance firm Hamilton Re.

On Monday, the US Coast Guard named the Canadians aboard the flight as Philip Gregory Childerhose, Thomas Henry Farquhar, Sarah Jane Paton and Jolene Beth Weir.

Canadian air medical transport provider Latitude Air Ambulance subsequently identified the four as crew members, calling them 'colleagues and friends.'

Childerhose was a captain, Farquhar was a first officer, Paton was a flight nurse and Weir was a respiratory therapist on the air ambulance.

Latitude said the four had been accompanied by a 'patient and family escort,' seemingly referring to Lottimore and Bean, though they did not specify who was who.

Coast Guard suspends search after debris found

The US Coast Guard suspended the search for the missing passengers on Sunday after a 'debris field' was found the previous day.

The depth of the water around the debris found was roughly 80 to 90 feet.

Authorities had searched more than 4,400 square miles for 66 hours off the Massachusetts coast.

Latitude said it acknowledged the decision to end the rescue operations with 'profound sadness.'

'We must now face the heartbreaking reality that the four members of our Latitude team, our patient and the patient's family escort, who were aboard Heartbeat 104, are presumed to have died,' the company stated Sunday.

Warwick Academy, the oldest school in Bermuda, said Lottimore was a class of 2002 graduate and mourned his presumed death.

'A school Prefect and an outstanding person, Sergio will be remembered with great fondness by those who knew him,' the school posted Monday on Facebook.

Hamilton Re, where Lottimore worked, said Monday on LinkedIn that it was 'profoundly saddened' and 'heartbroken' by his death.

Lottimore had at least 18 years of financial lines market experience, according to Hamilton Re in November 2024.

The Bermuda company mentioned that Lottimore was with his mother on the medical transport flight but did not give further details.

In 2022, the Bermuda Health Council found that the most frequently visited overseas health service care locations for Bermuda residents were in Massachusetts.

Latitude said Childerhose was 'incredibly kind–hearted and extremely passionate about aviation.'

Childerhose had been a Gulfstream G100 captain for Latitude since April 2017, according to a public LinkedIn profile that now displayed as 'memorialized.'

The profile noted that Childerhose was 'responsible for the safety, planning and execution of global medevac missions.'

Before that, he had also been a Learjet 35 and 36 captain for the provider.

The air medical transport provider recalled Farquhar as 'a gentle giant who reflected Jesus' love' because he was 'a safe place and a helping hand to all.'

A LinkedIn profile for Farquhar said he had been a first officer for Latitude since August 2024.

Farquhar graduated from Prairie College in Alberta in 2023, per the profile.

Paton was remembered by Latitude as a nurse who 'devoted her life to caring for others and was known by her family as selfless, hardworking, determined and full of life.'

Latitude said Weir was a wife and a mother, and emphasized her 'passion for helping others.'

Audio offers insight into plane’s possible last moments

The Federal Aviation Administration notified the Coast Guard early Saturday that it had lost contact with the Latitude air ambulance.

Air traffic audio offered an insight into the plane's possible last moments as a storm loomed ahead.

A New York controller could be heard asking the Latitude flight, 'You said you're coming in blind?

'Okay, you declare an emergency or not?' he asked, before telling the pilots that the reception was 'a little weak.'

The controller then told the plane that he 'didn't hear what your response was if you were declaring an emergency or not.'

Seconds later, the controller repeatedly asked if the plane was there but received no response.

Coast Guard crews, as well as the New York National Guard's Air Rescue Wing and Massachusetts authorities, had searched the area with fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, boats and cutters.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada told the Daily Mail on Tuesday that it was leading the investigation.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Latitude and the US Coast Guard for further comment.
