Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update, based on Android 17, to the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The first wave reaches devices enrolled in the One UI 9 beta program in South Korea, four weeks after Samsung expanded that beta beyond the Galaxy S26 in early September. The release keeps Samsung within its promised timeline of making the update available "within September."

For beta testers on all three device lines, the final firmware is a download of about 535MB. Some Galaxy S25 owners who were not part of the beta program also report receiving the stable build, which weighs in at around 3.8GB for them. Besides the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge are included in the update.

Samsung is still in the middle of the stable One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy S26. That release began in South Korea in mid-September, and owners in most other regions are still waiting for it.

One UI 9 brings more than the Android 17 base. Samsung is moving some of the Galaxy Z Fold 8's software features to the Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7, including:

• My FanCam, which uses AI to reframe a video after recording so a selected person stays in the frame.
• An enhanced Now Nudge, which offers proactive suggestions based on what is on the screen, such as a prompt to save a location someone shares in a conversation.
• A customizable Quick Settings panel that can move the brightness and volume controls to the bottom for one-handed use.
• An option to place the search bar at the bottom of the home screen.

The update also improves privacy alerts and document scanning and adds Motion Assist.

Devices enrolled in the beta receive the smaller incremental package, while phones on the public firmware download the full build. Owners of a supported Galaxy phone can check for the update manually:

1. Open Settings on the Galaxy phone.
2. Tap Software update.
3. Select Check for updates and install the One UI 9 build if it is offered.

Users outside the beta should keep enough free storage for a download of roughly 3.8GB before installing. Samsung has not published a rollout schedule for markets outside South Korea, and Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 owners in Europe, the US, and other regions have no confirmed date for the stable build yet.
