Spotify will introduce its audiobook service in India on November 12, 2026, enabling local users to access new content. The service will be available primarily through an Audiobooks+ add-on for Premium and Free users. Initially, Indian users can access a global catalogue featuring over 350,000 titles in different languages. Spotify aims to increase its presence in India by leveraging local partnerships and payment integrations.
Spotify will launch its audiobook service in India on November 12, 2026, more than four years after the streaming platform first introduced audiobooks in the US, as it expands the offering to more than 180 markets globally.
Indian users will access the service primarily through an Audiobooks+ add-on for Premium and Free plans.
Spotify first launched audiobooks in the US in September, 2022, with more than 300,000 titles available at the time. The service subsequently expanded to markets including the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, but India was not among the 22 markets where Spotify's audiobook service was available before Wednesday's global expansion.

The India launch is part of Spotify's biggest expansion of its audiobook business yet.
From 22 markets to 180, Spotify goes big on booksThe company said it would take audiobook access from 22 markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026, potentially reaching more than 750 million people. The expanded service will offer access to more than 350,000 titles across over 120 languages.
For Indian users, Audiobooks+ will be the primary access route, giving Premium subscribers 15 hours of audiobook listening each month through an add-on subscription.
Spotify has not yet disclosed the price of the add-on for India, saying pricing will vary by market. Users will also be able to purchase individual audiobook titles separately.
Unlike some markets where eligible Premium subscribers get a monthly audiobook allowance bundled into their existing plan, Spotify's India offering will use the Audiobooks+ model.
The company said Audiobooks+ had crossed one million subscribers globally and generated more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue.
The India launch also comes as Spotify looks to deepen its presence in one of its largest markets by monthly active users.
Earlier this year, at its 2026 Investor Day, the company said its subscriber base in India had grown seven-fold since its previous Investor Day, with growth driven by localisation, local partnerships and payment integrations.
Spotify will initially offer Indian listeners access to the expanded global catalogue, while its broader rollout will add local-language catalogues and titles across markets.
The company said the expanded catalogue would span more than 120 languages and that it was working with nearly 300 publishers worldwide.
Same story, switch from print to audio with 'Page Match'Spotify is also updating Page Match, its feature that allows readers to switch between physical books, ebooks and audiobooks from the same point in a story.
The company said more than one million readers had used the feature since its launch in February.

The latest update lets users scan a book's ISBN barcode and use page numbers to find their place in the audiobook. Page Match supports more than 30 languages.
The audiobook business has grown rapidly since Spotify entered the market. The company said monthly audiobook listeners rose nearly 40% over the past year, while listening hours increased more than 30%.
Spotify launched audiobooks on Premium three years ago as part of a broader push beyond music and podcasts.
By May 2026, it had expanded its audiobook catalogue from 150,000 titles to more than 700,000 across 22 markets, before Wednesday's global rollout.
