Chris Eubank Jr could lose $1.2million (£900,000) from his hotly anticipated bout with Conor Benn after missing the middleweight limit.

Eubank Jr weighed just 0.05lb over the limit for Saturday's grudge match held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was slapped with a $500,000 (£375,000) penalty.

The rescheduled contest, originally a 157lb catchweight clash in October 2022, was set at the full middleweight limit. 

The 35-year-old arrived late to the weigh-in after trying everything to get down to 160lbs.

On Friday, he posted a video of himself exercising on a bike while wearing a full sauna suit and was later seen lying on the floor in a large heat bag as he attempted to sweat out the remaining pounds.

Eubank Jr could be at risk of losing a further $500,000 (£375,000) if he exceeds a 170lbs rehydration clause limit at the same-day weigh-in tomorrow morning. 

Benn was quick to react to the news of Eubank Jr missing weight, taking to social media to play the meme 'show me the money' while laughing into camera.

The fine is the latest hit to Eubank Jr's bank account ahead of the fight that has been two years in the making. 

He already stumped up $133,000 (£100,000) after slapping Conor Benn with an egg as the pair went face-to-face for the first time in February.

As they stared each other down, Eubank Jr grabbed an egg from his pocket and slapped it into his rival's face, with security then having to rush in to separate the two men.

The egg was a reference to the bizarre excuse that Benn ate too many of them when he failed two drugs tests before their cancelled bout in October 2022. 

Eubank Jr said the fine was 'steep' and vowed to 'deal with the situation'. 

He also spent $66,000 (£50,000) to compensate boxers who were supposed to fight on the 2022 card, which was cancelled after Benn was suspended over an alleged use of a prohibited substance.

Eubank Jr could have also lost a further $1.3m (£1m) after offering to cover Eddie Hearn's fine for making a bet on the fight.

Hearn had challenged Eubank Jr's promoter, Ben Shalom, to a £1million bet on whose fighter would win, but later said he couldn't accept it because promoters cannot bet on fights. 

The boxer said: 'He is going to get fined £100,000 by the board if he bets me that million pounds that he said publicly he wanted to do.

'So, how about I make it easier for you? I'll put a million up and you put up £900,000, so I've covered the £100,000 fine that you are going to get that you can't afford to pay.

'Let's put the money in escrow tonight, and winner takes all on Saturday.'

The fight's weight stipulations have caused controversy, with Chris Eubank Sr declaring it 'against the law of boxing'. 

'I told my son three years ago, that fight does not happen,' he said. 

'He is the wrong weight. I told him why it shouldn't happen and why it will not happen. I was correct last time and I will be correct this time.'

A ceremonial weigh-in will take place at 6pm GMT at the Business Design Centre in Islington, where both fighters and undercard competitors will face off in front of fans. The official second-day weigh-in is scheduled for early Saturday morning.
