With the hot, hot summer holiday season underway, we’re following the continental example of maintaining healthy worker relations and slowing down over August.

Although we won’t be publishing new articles this month, subscribers and newsletter readers will still receive a mid-August special edition dispatch, packed with book recommendations and giveaways – perfect for long days on beaches, benches or lie-ins in bed. If you’re not already signed up, now is the perfect time to support our work as a subscriber or get our free Pepperista newsletter.

If you’re missing RPM already, here are a few recent and archive articles to catch up with over  a period generally associated with rest and relaxation but once again becoming defined by heat waves and wildfires, devastating people living and working in affected regions. Such extreme conditions give rise to extreme politics as governments fail to act – and agitators take advantage…

  • Explore the story behind Britain’s fragmenting far-right and the likely impact of Restore vs Reform
  • Hear from our partners in the West Bank how Israel’s eco-apartheid is impacting Palestinans
  • Consider the value of escapisms potentially offered by ‘cosy’ video games
  • Check out the latest book previews to get your summer reading off to a start

Or why not dip into the archive to place current events in political context…

  • As Thames Water hosepipe bans sweep the country, let Eleanor Godwin and David Whyte explain how the company become a lightning rod for public anger – and what can be done
  • With Cockroach Janta Party protests shaking India’s Modi-led government, revisit Zoya Hasan’s explainer of the grassroots civil and political society collaborations that shaped India’s 2024 elections
  • As bombs continues to rain down on Iran, Phyllis Bennis’ 2012 analysis of the long history of US ‘sabre rattling’ offers informed insight

Rest assured that the wider RPM team will still be working behind the scenes over the summer – and returning with a few very special announcements to stave off your end of summer and back-to-work blues. Coming soon:

  • A new-look, more easily navigable website
  • Our incredible digital archive brought in-house – putting 30+ years of journalism within easy reach
  • A special edition magazine
  • New collaborations and regular series

All of these exciting activities are funded by our readers and delivered by a small, dedicated team – no millionaire backers, no dodgy ads, no paywalls. Donate or subscribe to support our work, and keep ensuring radical left journalism is made accessible to all!

Until then: wishing you a safe and pleasurable summer – and see you in September!
