MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry has proposed creating rapid response units within the Russian army’s military police - the relevant draft presidential decree drawn up by the ministry is published on the federal portal of draft normative legal acts.

According to the document, it is proposed to add the term "rapid response unit" to the Charter of the Military Police of the Russian Armed Forces. It specifies that such a unit will consist of two or more military police personnel with an assigned vehicle, "designated in accordance with established procedures to perform, when necessary, duties related to the prompt suppression of crimes, administrative offenses, and/or disciplinary infractions, to detain the perpetrators, to repel attacks on military personnel and civilian staff, on Armed Forces facilities guarded by the military police, as well as to carry out other tasks aimed at ensuring law and order, military discipline, and combating crime among military personnel."

The draft decree also introduces the position of the "patrol duty detail." The patrol duty detail’s duties are planned to include ensuring public order and military discipline within the garrison area and its adjacent territory "within sight and earshot, where military personnel on patrol duty perform their assigned duties around the clock or during a specified period of time."
