This facility was constructed in 1947, the very same year that Kirtland Air Force Base and all other Air Force bases were established, the very same year that CIA was established, the very same year that NSA was established. Coincidence?
PLEASE TAKE A BIRD’S EYE TOUR OF THIS SIGNIFICANT FACILITY:
Here are the instructions on how to get to the closest spot to view this area.
In Albuquerque, take the I-40 Fwy eastbound and get off (exist to the right) at Tramway Blvd.
Go past Central Ave.
Keep going for a short distance and make a right at Four Hills Rd.
Then make a right at Stagecoach Rd. and keep going on (it becomes Wagon Train Dr.) all the way until you come to the great view of the base to the right side.
Then keep on going on Wagon Train Dr. until the very end.
There is a small circle at the very end.
Park your vehicle here. This is public land.
Then start walking on the dirt road to the right and you can already see the base right at the fence.
This is part of the public hiking trail operated by the city of Albuquerque.
Lot of the residents here are former employees of the base.
However, it is my understanding that the whole public “viewing” spot should not be visited after sundown.
A small sign says this area is closed after sundown.
There is hardly anyone visiting this location, even on weekends. About 99.9 percent of the people in Albuquerque do not know of this place.
