The couple said they were left “terrified” after the ordeal
A husband and wife from West Lothian have told how they “feared for their lives” when being attacked by a group of youths in the car park of Armadale train station.
The pair, who were on their way home on Friday after enjoying a “lovely date night”, got off the train at around 8.30pm when they were allegedly swarmed by a mob of ten to twelve young people.
They said the mob stole their shopping bags before punching and kicking them to the ground.

Posting on social media, the female victim said she had “never felt so frightened and unsafe” in her own town.
“I honestly cannot put into words how terrifying this experience was,” she said. “To go out for a lovely evening with your husband and end up being physically assaulted and fearing for your lives is absolutely horrific.
She continued: “I am appalled, heartbroken and angry that this is what our town is coming to.
“No one should have to experience this, especially in a place they have called home for 25 years.”
She added: “We should all be able to walk home safely without fear of being assaulted or worse. Something needs to change.
“I sincerely hope that no one else has to go through what we experienced tonight.”
The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the force was investigating the assault, however no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
A BTP spokesperson said: “We received a report of a theft and two people being assaulted in Armadale railway station car park at around 8.30pm on 2 October.
“A man a woman sustained injuries but did not require hospital treatment. No arrests have been made in connection at this time and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information that could help police should text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 263 of 3 October.”
