According to Wamala Region Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi, the family had hosted two customers at their home bar at about 9pm on Saturday.

Kigozi said one of the customers was known to the family by face, while the other was identified only as Sanira. Police said the two were reportedly of Burundian origin.

A disagreement allegedly arose between Rosette and the customers over an outstanding balance. The two men subsequently left the bar after allegedly threatening her, according to police.

The following morning, a woman identified as Komujuni Melon, who had arranged to travel with Rosette to buy matooke, reportedly arrived at the home to pick her up.

Melon allegedly found Rosette lying dead in a pool of blood on the veranda, while the house was open.

Police said Melon then found Kaweesa and his son, Joshua, inside the house with serious injuries to their heads and unable to speak.

The condition of the house reportedly suggested that a struggle had taken place.

Police also recovered Rosette's bag outside the house. According to the information provided to investigators, the bag had contained about Shs140,000, although the money was missing.

The two customers who allegedly threatened Rosette before leaving the bar could not be reached afterwards, with their phones reportedly switched off. Police are investigating whether they were connected to the attack.

The incident was reported to Kiganda Police Station early Sunday by Rwali George, the chairperson of Kasawo West Village.

A homicide team from the Kassanda District Police Command visited the scene and documented evidence, while statements were recorded from witnesses.

Kaweesa and his son were rushed to Kiganda Health Centre IV for treatment, while Rosette's body was taken to the Kassanda Health Centre IV mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

SSP Kigozi said police were pursuing leads to identify and arrest those responsible for the attack.

"We appeal to members of the public to provide any information that may help investigators identify and apprehend the people responsible for this attack," Kigozi said.

Police have appealed to residents who may know the two customers or have information about their whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.

Investigations into the killing and injuries remain ongoing.
