NEW YORK, October 6. /TASS/. The Neon studio plans to nominate Russian actor Yura Borisov for the Academy Awards for his role in Luca Guadagnino’s drama Artificial (2026), Variety reported.

Yura Borisov, who portrays OpenAI co-founder and former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, will be nominated in the lead actor category.

Andrew Garfield, who plays OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, will be nominated for the best supporting actor award. Oscar winner Mark Rylance, who portrays AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton, will join Garfield in the supporting race.

It may become Yura Borisov’s second Oscar nomination. In 2024, he was nominated for his role in Sean Baker’s Anora (2024), but did not win the award.

Artificial focuses on events at OpenAI in November 2023, when the board of directors removed CEO Sam Altman, but restored him in the same capacity a few days later.
