MEDIA, Pa. - Dajia Steuber joined Penn State Brandywine as a housing and food services manager in July. Coming from Penn State Abington, Steuber said she is looking forward to getting to know the students, faculty and staff on campus.

Steuber has been working in food and hospitality management for most of her life. Her first job, at 15 years old, was at a local bakery, where she discovered her passion for baking. Shortly after, her parents opened a health food store sparking her curiosity about the powerful connection between food, nutrition and overall health. She studied nutritional sciences and education and graduated with a BS from the University of Vermont.

She was a manager at Whole Foods for nearly 10 years, a pastry chef for Morimoto and Starr Restaurants and owned two small businesses – a dessert catering business and a healthy wholesale snack business. Finding herself now at Brandywine, she chose to join the campus because of the talented and welcoming team she met throughout the interview process, as well as the dynamic nature of the position.

“No two days are ever the same, which keeps things interesting and rewarding,” Steuber said. "I was working at Penn State Abington before this, so I’ve really enjoyed continuing to work with and around students—they bring great energy and enthusiasm. This position is a little different than anything I had done in the past, which was part of the appeal. I was up for a new challenge and excited to learn some new skills along the way."

In terms of her goals, Steuber said she strives to keep our students healthy, safe, and well-fed with nourishing food.

"I want to provide students with a safe, clean place to call home. At the end of the day, we're all here for these amazing students," she said. "The Office of Housing and Food Services plays a huge role in students' well-being, and I'm excited to be a part of the team that works hard every day to make this happen."

Outside of work, Steuber enjoys being outdoors, hiking with her dog Cooper, kayaking and biking. She also enjoys working in her yard and spending time with friends and family.
