Abstract

This supplementary document provides detailed methodological and contextual information supporting the 180-second video paper submitted to the
Estuarine Management and Technologies
(EMT) Journal. The case study presents the successful reintroduction of two captive-born Neotropical otters (
Lontra longicaudis
) at the Peri Lagoon, Southern Santa Catarina Island, Brazil, on June 4, 2025. The protocol encompasses controlled reproduction, maternal-led development, predatory training, de-habituation strategies, and post-release monitoring. This document elaborates on the biological, behavioral, and conservation aspects of the reintroduction process, offering a replicable framework for otter conservation initiatives across Neotropical estuarine systems.
