Women: Poole On First Goal

Phoebie Poole has targeted more goals in a Watford shirt after scoring her first for the club in the Golden Girls’ 2-2 draw with Wolves.
The 22-year-old Welsh international, who signed over the summer after leaving Plymouth Argyle, made her first WSL2 start at the SEAH Stadium and netted with a looping header in the second half.
That goal put Watford 2-1 in front after Poppy Wilson had cancelled out an earlier opener for the hosts, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils after then conceding a penalty.
“I’m absolutely buzzing,” said Poole on her goal.
“It’s my first league start and first goal. Hopefully, I can go on a run.
“We created a lot of chances, and were unlucky not to get on the end of some of them.
“In moments we really controlled the game. It’s a shame we only got a point, but it’s a point from an away game, so we can be happy.”The Golden Girls trailed 1-0 at the break but looked much improved after the restart.
They have now drawn three and lost two of their opening five matches following promotion to the WSL2 last season.
“We just need to find that second gear again in the final third,” Poole added.
“We’re creating loads, we’re getting across the box.
“It’s someone just having the bravery to put their foot through it and put it in the back of the net.
“Hopefully, I can do that in the next couple of weeks.”
