The Trump administration’s fanatical crusade to rid the country of non-citizens is hurting decent people.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has done a better job avoiding attention lately, but America’s immigration Gestapo has not backed off from enforcing the Trump administration’s disgraceful war on immigrants.
The despicable onslaught continues.
Just in the last few days, Robert Sidhe, a patient care technician at the University of Washington Medical Center, was seized by ICE and is now being held in detention in Tacoma. Sidhe was a doctor in Kenya but fled that country to avoid persecution for his political views.
Sidhe was applying for asylum in the United States, but, just recently, the Trump regime changed the rules for people who asked for asylum after entering the country, closing that avenue to residence here.
Like nearly all the people being pulled off the street, locked up and separated from their families by ICE, Sidhe has no criminal record. He has been providing care to patients at a hospital. He has been doing good work and contributing significantly to the country where he hoped to make a home.
Sidhe is now one of hundreds at the Tacoma ICE detention center, including Loreto Javar, a green card holder who has lived in the U.S. for more than three decades. Javar needs treatment for Stage 4 prostate cancer but has been locked up for more than two months.
Perhaps Sidhe can give him care. Almost certainly Javar is not getting the help he desperately needs from ICE.
Just in the last few weeks, ICE has taken hundreds of detainees from imprisonment in Tacoma and flown them to unknown destinations, leaving legal advocates and wives and children totally in the dark.
There are thousands of these egregious examples of cruel and unreasonable treatment of immigrants, the same sick story in every corner of our nation. Trump’s fanatical crusade to rid the country of noncitizens is hurting decent people and undercutting our economy. It is a betrayal of America’s heritage as a refuge and a beacon of liberty to the world. Anyone who voted for this president and his immigration policy should be ashamed.
