The Joke Thread

I did a cursory search and didn't see a similar thread where jokes can be posted so I started this one. If there is indeed a joke thread already, please send this post there.

I got this today from a customer. Obviously intended for seniors if there are any here. Thanks. -BA

f there are any here.

The majority of the active posters are pretty old.

That includes me.

I could have sworn that we had a joke thread (besides the one for Linux material), but I can't find it.

I might be one also although my profile might show otherwise.

AArrrggghhhh.... did we ever get that "groan" emoji? ;)

So, everyone knows Idaho has potatoes. What many people don't know is that a large percentage of your potatoes actually come from 'the county' in Maine. It's Aroostook County, at the very tippy-top of Maine. It's a long drive from anywhere. If you're in the US and have eaten fries at McDonald's, you've likely eaten a potato product from Maine. The same is true for several brands of potato chips (or crisps, if you're weird like that). Maine grows a whole lot of potatoes.

I have a buddy from there (way up north). One day, I asked him if he had any potato jokes. I did not expect him to say that he did. If he did, I certainly didn't think it'd be a 'family-friendly' joke. I was surprised on both counts.

One day, Mommy Tater, Daddy Tater, and Baby Tater were walking down the main street in Fort Kent.

As they were walking down the street, they passed a furniture store. "That's a bed." Said Baby Tater.

They walked by a toy store. "That's a toy train." Said Baby Tater.

They walked past an appliance store. "That's a stove." Said Baby Tater.

Suddenly, Daddy Tater turned around and stomped Baby Tater into the sidewalk.

"What did you do?!?" Cried Mama Tater.

"Oh, don't worry about that." Said Daddy Tater. "He's just a 'common-tater'."

I'm not even sorry for sharing that joke. Nope. Not even a little bit.

I know many, many jokes. A goodly number of them aren't fit for sharing with nice folks such as yourselves.

Your jokes are just two links, at least on my screen.

For people who don't get the joke, a screwdriver is cocktail name (orange juice and vodka) ;)

Can you open those links? (They contain star trek/star wars jokes, but i don't know if anyone else can see them.

I can, but you could have just shared the images.

Hmm.. I tried to get them without downloading said images. Any way on doing it without downloading them?

In this case, you can just copy the URL and paste it into the spot when you use the add-image function of the forum.

In some cases, you can just right-click on the image to copy the image URL. You can then paste that the same way.

A DEA officer stopped at our farm yesterday. He said “I need to inspect your farm for the growing of illegal drugs.”

I said “Okay, but don’t go in that field over there.”

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, “I have the authority of the Federal Government with me!” Reaching into his rear pants pocket, the officer removed his badge and shoved it in my face. “See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I want! On any land! No questions asked or answers given! Have I made myself clear?! Do you understand?!!”

I nodded politely, apologized, and went about my chores. A short time later, I heard loud screams. I looked up and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by my big ol’ mean bull, Widow Maker. With every step the bull was gaining ground, and it seemed likely that agent would sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

I threw down my tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of my lungs

“Your badge, show him your BADGE!!”

I guess, compared to Guinness, anything else is just gnat's-p**s.....so ya might as well not bother drinking.

My personal favourite brew for a while when I was younger used to be - and Brian's probably heard of these - an Adnam's 'Broadside'. It was a barley-wine; came in a small bottle (and that's not as poncy as some of you might think). The Adnam's brewery - at Southwold, on the cost of East Anglia - made these things for years....and if ya weren't used to them, they were lethal. Never saw anybody drink more than about 3, or at most 4 of these and still be on their feet.

Very high specific gravity; I believe they were around 8.5-9% back when I used to imbibe, though last I heard they'd dropped this down to more like 5.5 or 6%. You didn't think anything was happening for a bit, then all of a sudden they'd ambush you from behind and grab you by the scruff of the neck.....and your knees were usually turning to water by this point!

Two were plenty for me, and would last me all evening. I know my limits, and don't like abusing them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I used to know a lass who could drink any man alive under the table on Guinness.....and when they were all incapacitated at the end of the night, she was still as chirpy as a baby bird at daybreak.....and looking round for fresh challengers.
Alcohol just didn't seem to have any effect on her at all. Not one bit.
I wonder where she is now...? Ah, sorry guys; "off-topic", I know.....just reminiscing.
Mike. ;)
