THOMASVILLE, GA. — Bret Hathaway has been promoted to senior vice president of procurement at Flowers Foods, Inc. Earlier this year, Hathaway was named vice president of procurement, succeeding Miles Dennis, who retired from the company after 41 years.

Hathaway joined Flowers in 2022 as senior director, commodities and risk management. Before Flowers, Hathaway most recently led the global commodities and risk management team at Lamb Weston. Earlier, he held multiple roles at Conagra Brands, including manager — agricultural procurement and risk management and procurement manager. Before joining Conagra, Hathaway was a grain production specialist trainee at AgSystems.

In April, Hathaway began serving on the board of advisers for the Virginia Tech Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.

Hathaway received an associate of agriculture degree in agricultural technology, bachelor’s degree in agriculture and applied economics — agribusiness management, and master’s degree in agricultural and applied economics, all from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. He has additional certification, a Series 3 Commodities License, from the National Futures Association.
