Enhanced Visualization and Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Дата публикации: 01-09-2026 00:00:00

Iatrogenic common bile duct (CBD) injuries after laparoscopic cholecystectomy cause significant morbidity and mortality with a heavy cost burden. Since the introduction of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, CBD injury rates have been reported at 3.3 per 1000 cases. Intraoperative cholangiogram has reduced CBD injury rates to 2.0 per 1000, but it is often used selectively. Despite laparoscopic advances, further reduction in CBD injury rates has remained elusive. Indocyanine green (ICG) cholangiography is a less invasive adjunct for biliary visualization that may reduce the risk of CBD injury.
