As you may have seen, Alix Earle recently confessed that she's "never read a book."
Answering quick-fire questions with Interview magazine's Mel Ottenberg, the 25-year-old TikToker-turned-reality star was asked to name the last book she read. In response, Alix said, "I’ve never read a book. Like, maybe Dr. Seuss?"
The X account @PopCrave posted screenshots of Alix's reading confession, and soon enough, she was facing intense backlash, with many suggesting that it was a "sad" and embarrassing thing to admit publicly.
"we as a society need to be more embarrassed about admitting things like this," reads one X post with over 109,000 likes and 1.7 million views.
Some suggested that Alix — who built much of her TikTok following while attending the University of Miami — was "joking" or just putting on an "act" for the video. However, even if it was a joke, people felt that it wasn't a great look, particularly in front of her impressionable, young followers.
I don't know about you, but the debate still seems to be raging on across my socials. And if anyone was wondering how Alix feels about it all, well, it seems like she doesn't particularly care.
This week, Alix reposted a screenshot of Pop Crave’s viral tweet to her Instagram story, writing, "This is sending me."
