This introductory course will give you the basic information you need to plan, write, and publish your journal article, embedding reproducibility practices.
This course is suitable for postgraduate research students and early-career researchers with limited or no experience of academic writing. You might be early in your research planning or conduct with nothing yet to write. You might be planning your first article.
Those with some writing experience may also find the course useful as a refresher.
We will not discuss in any depth-specific issues with your own in-progress article. If you are working on an article, please consider also signing up for our hands-on session, “Writing your journal article: in-depth workshop”.
This course does not address thesis or transfer report writing. We have separate courses focusing on these documents.
This course is provided by Dr Jen de Beyer, a writing expert affiliated with the UK EQUATOR Centre.
COURSE FORMATOnline, live course on Zoom. Please choose a quiet place where you are comfortable answering questions via microphone. We will use a mixture of teaching, examples, discussion, and short exercises.
There is no preparatory work. The course is not recorded. All attendees will be sent summary course notes after the course ends.
