Her wellness brand, Cosmoss, may have folded, but her latest ad for Gucci sees Kate Moss determined to strike the right note – even if it's not actually her who's doing the singing.

The label's new campaign, which takes the form of a four-and-a-half-minute film, sees Moss, 52, taking to the mic to lip-sync her way through a sultry rendition of Wicked Game, which became a hit for Chris Isaak after it was featured in the 1990 David Lynch film Wild at Heart.

The ad sees the Croydon-born model wearing the same backless sequinned dress that she wore to close the Gucci show in Milan in February. But where its distinctive thong was clearly visible on the catwalk, it's hidden in the video, since Moss is largely pictured from the front.

Despite the dim and moody lighting, it's clear she's also wearing the same make-up she wore in the show, with her hair in the same tousled style.

The film, And We Shall Dance Again, depicts a group of 'beautiful strangers' slowly dancing together as Moss sings, each wearing a look already seen on the catwalk.

One familiar face is Bobby Brazier, 23, the son of TV presenter Jeff and Jade Goody, who is seen briefly in a close-up wearing the same black polo neck he modelled in the Milan show.

Although she is miming in the video, Moss has sung in public several times, most notably in a duet with Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie. She also provided vocals on her ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty's songs. The model's latest performance has divided opinion online.

'What a deep voice you have,' one Instagram user joked of Isaak's baritone coming from Moss.

'This video has the vibe of a NA [Narcotics Anonymous] meeting in downtown New York, circa 2000,' wrote another. As for whether Gucci's new 'Primavera' collection will reverse shrinking sales, it's too early to say.

It's also too early to say how much Moss's thong dress will cost, since it's still not available on the brand's website.

With similar gowns selling for four figures, it certainly won't be going for a song.
