The idea of bringing a Blackbird back to flyable status would be a massively expensive undertaking, and I don't think NASA is going to bring 944 back to life, instead, they're probably studying her airframe, systems, and her engines, so they can come up with improvements for a next gen X-Plane. Also, all Blackbirds have Fiscal Year '61 serial numbers, not Fiscal Year '64 serial numbers, so NASA 944's USAF serial number is AF 61-7980, not AF 64-17980 Stefano.
