The driver of this C8 Corvette in the Land Down Under might not be alive today if not for two brave Good Samaritans.

Shocking video included in a report by 7News shows the Corvette engulfed in flames after recently crashing into a tree in Luddenham, Western Sydney, Australia.

But before emergency crews could reach the scene, two men ran toward the burning car rather than away from it, risking their own lives to pull the injured 23-year-old driver to safety.

Just after 8 p.m., Angelo Molluso was inside his home when he heard a loud bang. Police say the driver had lost control of the Corvette and slammed into a tree. The car quickly caught fire, with skid marks on the roadway showing its path before impact.

Emergency crews were already on the way, but Molluso and another Good Samaritan realized there wasn’t time to wait.

“They put their lives on the line to pull him out before that fire became out of control,” a 7News reporter said.

Molluso described the Corvette as “just full on flames.”

With the fire rapidly spreading, he knew they had only moments to get the driver out.

“Just seconds,” Molluso said. “This fella was going to die. All I could hear was voices. I think it was my brother yelling, ‘Get away! Get away from the car! Get away from the car!’ If we did, he’s dead. He dies.”

Their decision likely saved the young man’s life.

The driver was transported to Westmead Hospital in serious but stable condition with a suspected broken rib, collapsed lung and possible back injury.

The Corvette wasn’t nearly as fortunate.

By the time the flames were extinguished, little remained beyond its charred metal structure. The body and interior had been virtually destroyed.

Cars can be replaced. People can’t.

And on this night, two men who heard a crash and rushed toward a burning Corvette instead of waiting for someone else to help made sure this story ended with an injured young man in a hospital rather than something far worse.
